Miistakis, along with the City of Calgary, the Calgary Zoo and WWF-Canada, hosted a Science Cafe on June 20th at Village Brewery. Amphibian and beer enthusiasts alike joined to discuss wetland and amphibian conservation in Calgary. Lea Randall from the Calgary Zoo spoke about world-wide amphibian decline and northern leopard frog re-introduction efforts; Vanessa Carney from the City of Calgary discussed Calgary's urban wetlands and biodiversity, and Nicole Kahal from the Miistakis Institute encouraged participants to take action for wetland conservation by participating in the Call of the Wetland citizen science program. Devika Shah, from WWF-Canada also shared WWF's "Wildlifer" campaign, which connects people to conservation actions occurring in their community.

Participants asked engaging questions, as well as shared their personal motivations and ideas for promoting wetland biodiversity. Thank you for all who joined!
