Helping Municipal Planners Consider Connectivity | ![]() |
![]() Check it out - we recently built a new tool to help municipal planners in Crowsnest Pass and Pincher Creek assess how a proposed development could impact ecological connectivity. The Connectivity Risk Assessment Tool enables planners to draw the proposed development directly onto an on-line interactive map. The CRA Tool then generates a report that assesses where the proposed development has a potential high, medium, and low risk impact to ecological connectivity. By highlighting which components of the development pose the highest risks, it gives municipal planners and/or development officers information to inform permitting decisions. The tool also provides a list of potential mitigation strategies to reduce high impact risks. Special thanks to Woodcock Foundation and Wilburforce Foundation for support. | |
